You’ve been working your butt off at the gym, have followed a strict healthy meal plan and have shredded off a few pounds off the scale. Still, that noticeable belly flab won’t go away and you’re getting frustrated that your efforts are not effective enough. If you feel like you’ve exhausted your options and still not getting the results you’re aiming for, maybe it’s time to consider undergoing a tummy tuck.

During a tummy tuck procedure, or abdominoplasty in technical terms, excess fat and sagging skin is eliminated and abdominal muscles are tightened leaving the midsection flatter, firmer and more toned.

This procedure is ideal for patients – both men and women- who are struggling in losing the extra bulge and weight around their middles or who have excess skin from pregnancies or drastic weight loss.

Specifically, you are a candidate for abdominoplasty if:

  1. You are a non-smoker.
  2. You are generally in good health, as this would make it easier for your body to handle the surgery and have a quicker recovery.
  3. You do not plan on becoming pregnant again in the future.
  4. You have a significant amount of loose skin under your abdomen that is not in proportion to your overall body shape.

It is also important to note, that abdominoplasty is not a weightloss procedure and won’t resolve any existing weight-related issues. You will still need to undergo proper diet and exercise to maintain a stable body weight and figure.

Tummy tuck can greatly boost your confidence and will make you more comfortable with your own body especially when performed by a knowledgeable and experienced cosmetic surgeon.

Thanks for explaining some of the qualities that a good candidate for a tummy tuck should have. My sister recently lost a lot of weight, and she is thinking about getting this procedure done to smooth out the extra skin around her tummy. She eats healthy and doesn’t smoke at all, so it sounds like there should be no problems there. I will have to let her know about what you said about not planning to become pregnant. I’m not sure if she has thought about having more kids or not.

  • It is all concerned with you if you have fats on your belly. Many people undergo surgeries to reduce that extra fats and some perform exercise to take a control on it. While some prefer the belly tuck. You can refer it as a technical term for the same process concerned with the fats.
